The Cape Town EDITION opens on the V&A Waterfront, the brand's debut in Africa
The Cape Town EDITION opens 142 rooms at Quay 7, designed by Neri&Hu, with local craft and an African art collection built into the hotel.

EDITION, the lifestyle brand within Marriott International, has opened The Cape Town EDITION at Quay 7 on the V&A Waterfront. It is the brand's first hotel in Africa.
The hotel has 142 guestrooms and suites, topped by a 240-square-meter Penthouse and a 112-square-meter Harbour Suite. Neri&Hu designed the building with Cape Town-based architects, referencing the warehouses that once stood on the site; more than six million bricks were laid by hand. At its center is The Drum, an open-air cylindrical space with a staircase to a viewing platform.
Local makers are part of the design. Shuttleworth Weaving from KwaZulu-Natal made furnishings and rugs, Design Network Africa sourced pieces from across the continent, and Cape Town's Southern Guild curated the art collection. Executive Chef Phil Carmichael leads food and beverage, with the restaurant Shale, the rooftop EAVE, a Lobby Bar and Punch Room. A ballroom holds up to 200 people.
"We want The Cape Town EDITION to feel as relevant to a Capetonian as it does to someone visiting the city for the first time," said general manager Leonie Andereya. Graham Wood, CEO of the V&A Waterfront, called the opening "a strong expression of confidence in Cape Town as a globally competitive tourism and investment destination".
