Le Sereno

Le Sereno, the all-suite waterfront hotel on Grand Cul-de-Sac in Saint Barthélemy, will reopen for the season on 16 November 2026 after a three-year transformation led by owners Luis and Angelica Contreras, the hotel said. The couple own and operate the property, which has run for nearly two decades, and also created Il Sereno on Lake Como.

Every accommodation has been redone, according to the release. The main addition is the Suite des Pêcheurs, a 230-square-metre waterfront suite with one bedroom, two bathrooms, a private pool and a private gate onto the beach. Designer Patricia Urquiola reworked the pool area, adding a conversation pit, seafront cabanas and a new pool bar, and designed canopies for the waterfront suites and furniture for the signature suite. The spa pavilion, which uses Valmont products, was also redone.

A landscape project under the creative direction of Denys Ridrimont gives each suite its own garden for privacy, shade and natural cooling, with a coconut-palm entrance and rare specimens. The hotel said it worked with the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy and the Réserve Naturelle de Saint-Barthélemy on restoring the beachfront, with sand dredged from the lagoon to enlarge the beach.

After acquiring the adjoining beachfront property, the hotel is launching BOKAO, a beach club designed to complement its Italian restaurant Le Sereno Al Mare. Rates run from 1,550 to 18,600 EUR.

"This transformation was never about changing its identity," Luis Contreras said, describing it as expressing the hotel's maturity "through nature, design and hospitality."
