Hilton said it now has more than 100 open and planned hotels across the Caribbean, a milestone supported this week by the opening of Homewood Suites by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton San Juan, its first dual-brand development in the region. The 257-room project sits in the San Juan Convention District, near the Puerto Rico Convention Center and DISTRITO T-Mobile.
According to the release, the property is the first Homewood Suites in Puerto Rico, extends Hampton beyond Isla Verde and is San Juan's first new-build hotel in more than five years. It pairs an extended-stay brand with a midscale one, which Hilton presents as a way for owners to serve separate demand segments while sharing amenities and operating efficiencies. Hilton plans to roughly double its Puerto Rico portfolio to nearly 25 hotels, with projects in San Juan, Ponce, Fajardo, Dorado and Arecibo.
Kolin Pound, area president for Caribbean and Latin America, said the company's "established portfolio of nearly 60 hotels provides a foundation for accelerated growth." Pablo Maturana, vice president of development for the region, credited "strong relationships with owners" for the expansion.
Openings in 2026 include The Westerly at Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort & Casino and Ports of Call Resort Turks & Caicos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, plus three hotels added through the partnership with Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Planned brand firsts include DoubleTree by Hilton Punta Cana Downtown by year-end 2026, DoubleTree by Hilton Curaçao in 2027, and a 2028 group covering Hilton's first hotel in Dominica, a return to Nassau, Hilton Garden Inn Barbados Rockley Beach and Motto by Hilton San Juan Santurce. Waldorf Astoria Turks and Caicos Dellis Cay and AMARIS Grace Bay, LXR Hotels & Resorts are expected in 2030.
