Hyatt Hotels Corporation has opened Thompson Rome, a 69-room hotel that marks the Thompson Hotels brand's debut in Italy, the company said on 27 October 2026. The property is owned and operated by AG Group s.r.l. and Rossfin Group.

The hotel occupies a reworked 1940s landmark on Via delle Botteghe Oscure, close to Piazza Venezia and within walking distance of the Roman Forum, Pantheon and Colosseum. According to the release, original features such as a marble staircase were restored, and a sculptural wall and inlaid floor by Italian artist Gio Pomodoro, found during the renovation after decades out of sight, were preserved.

Of the 69 keys, 19 are suites, nearly a third of the inventory. The top category is the 104-square-metre Thompson Suite with an 80-square-metre private terrace. An art programme features works linked to the Scuola Romana and Scuola di Piazza del Popolo alongside contemporary artists, and a rotating artist-in-residence scheme will add exhibitions and talks.

Food and beverage runs across three venues: LYVE Restaurant, led by Executive Chef Fabio Fioravanti, who previously worked with the Alain Ducasse group including at Le Louis XV in Monte-Carlo; LYVE Rooftop; and a Lobby Lounge. A year-round programme of culinary workshops, tastings and a seventh-floor photography experience called Empire of Light is planned.

"The goal was to create a Thompson hotel that feels at home in Rome, a hotel travelers want to discover and Romans want to come back to," said Amar Lalvani, Chief Creative Officer of Hyatt Corporation. General manager Arturo Gomez said the team wants local residents to treat it as "a place you return to again and again."
